Jhuoshuei River Basin Hydrological Information Service

        濁水溪流域面積3156.9平方公里，流經南投、嘉義、彰化、雲林等4縣21鄉鎮，沿岸人文社經活動頻繁，加強水患防災預警工作，除可保障社會、民眾生命財產安全外，並可提振地區經濟發展。

       「濁水溪流域逕流測預報系統建置工程」已於91年5月建置完成，該工程於經濟部水利署第四河川局，包括新建水情中心1處、10站水位站及旁收中央氣象局49站雨量站，接收方式以專線為主、VSAT為輔，每10分鐘自動收集濁水溪流域之水位、水庫及雨量等資料，並結合系統模式於汛期間測預報結果，提供防災之參考。

        為使大眾便於取得各項水情資訊，除了將資訊展現在水情中心網站中，亦可透過手機(imode或wap)直接上網查詢，網址如下：

The Jhuoshuei river basin comprises four counties, Nan- tou, Zhang-hua, Yun-lin and Jia-yi, including 21 villages and towns. It covers an area of 3156.9 square kilometers that social and economic activities are busy along the bank. To enhance precaution and preparedness against flood disaster not only protects social, public life and property but also helps the development of area economics.

The flood and run-off forecasting system for the Jhuoshuei river basin was completed on May 2002. One hydrological information center and 10 hydrological stations were built in the bureau and 49 rainfall gauge stations belonging to the Central Weather Bureau were connected to the system by a special cable as a primary facility and by VAST as a secondary one. The system collects data from all the hydrological stations every 10 minutes. Then the data are fed into the simulation models to provide forecast during the high-water or tide season as a reference to the disaster defense.
